Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actress, singer and songwriter for a number of years. In her early years, Sara was racially taunted by American citizens of all races. As she entered the 9th grade she began to feel more comfortable after she was acknowledged by her teachers as a success for her performance at school's audition. The experience not only increased her confidence, but it also changed the direction in which she went on to pursue her professional career. In 1992, she received her master's degree from the city's Julliard School. In the year 23 she started her professional career, making her first appearance on Broadway in Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films featuring You've Got Mail. The greatest accomplishment of her career occurred when she played The Lady of The Lake on Spamalot's initial Broadway production. Not only did she get the Tony Award, but her performance was also praised by reviewers. In the following year, when she was Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy for ABC the show, she received more recognition. She is known as a performer and also released a single and an extended play. Also, she is an activist and works extensively to promote LGBT rights.
